Ransom notes is a ton of fun with silly scenarios that got super different responses from everyone in the group. Customer service was incredibly helpful and shipping was extremely fast! I'd recommend both the game and company to anyone looking for a fun party game that can be as PG, raunchy, or out of control as the group playing is.
Played this with my kids (teens/adults) and we absolutely love it! No 2 games are the same. Possibilities and combinations are endless. It's definitely our new family favorite, so much that I already have the Not Suitable for Work and Couples expansions on order!!! Highly recommend this one! You won't be disappointed!!
My boyfriend and I just bought this and play with just the two of us. We have played it three nights in a row and laughed so hard we cry. Laughing is basically the point of the game so there is no need to keep score or follow any timing rules unless you want to. Can’t wait to bring this to our friends party next week!
I got this game for my friend group and introduced it to them at Friendsmasgiving! We absolutely loved it and they said they had a great time. It’s something we can definitely play over and over and we’re so excited that there’s expansion packs for us to explore!
We had so much fun playing this game. It sent us into proper hysterics for a good chunk of the evening and we’ll definitely be playing it again. Great game for people to let their silliness out! The initial separating of the individual words when first unpackaged took longer than anticipated, but once that was done, it was all easy & very user friendly. And the delivery was speedy & follow up email friendly and humorous! Thanks a lot!
Great game! Lots of fun and easy to play with any group. The NSFW extension adds some spiciness which is great. The “spin to figure out the judge” rules are kind of weird, same with the lack of anonymity so we play more similar to the traditional Apples to Apples or Cards Against Humanity play style, with a rotating judge who doesn’t play with answers submitted anonymously with trays upside down then shuffled. I like this better and it allows for up to 7 to play. Really wish there was an option to buy more trays! (why doesn’t this come with the expansion packs?!)
I found out about this game through the YouTube Shorts algorithm and sent a couple videos to my friend. We're currently living in different countries but we both bought the game and now play long distance. It's a really fun way to stay connected and stay silly.
This game was a hit with my family as soon as I brought it home! It brings out everyone's creativity and sense of humor, and all ages can play - and win! We're still laughing about some of the memorable ransom notes from previous game nights. Ransom Notes is going to be my go-to gift for friends now! Thank you!
Bought this for my best friend and his wife as a Christmas gift. After our exchange ritual, we got to work popping the words apart. Everyone had tears of laughter and I haven't seen my friend laugh that hard since we were kids (we're 40 now). The provided pic is of his response that had us in stitches. We didnt even break into the NSFW expansion this sesh, all of the laughs off of the core game. Excellent.
We are a family of game lovers with a couple skeptics that tend to watch but not join. This game had everyone dying laughing and insisting on “just one more” round for over an hour. Highly recommend. Two people at the table loved the game so much they ordered their own Ransom Notes game while playing.
My family of 6 played over breakfast- we spent at least an hour giggling together and I think we only drew three prompt cards.
There are some silly games out there that feel like you can only play a few times before it isn't very funny but anymore but this game has endless possibilities especially with the expansion packs.
Expect to bring this to every gathering you attend.
Bought this game for my family since it seemed up our alley, and I was absolutely right. Even our small group "test run" went really well and I know that it'll be even better with more people. There are a few words and prompts that might tip the age rating, but it's an easy fix of combing through to remove the more raunchy stuff. My only concern is the quality of the magnets, some of them did seem like they might come apart when I was breaking them off of their sheets. Overall worth buying.
This game is AMAZING!!! So easy to learn and makes for the best evening with family or friends, would definitely be an incredible ice breaker game as well - we’ve already bought another one to give to a friend as a gift!
Bought this to entertain over Christmas. I've travelled to several places and played this with several groups of all ages and sensibilities from teens to grandparents and everyone has been able to get into this in their own way even those who apparently aren't funny or creative enough to play . Have learnt some things I didn't actually want to know about my dad... We had good fun and managed to avoid the classic Christmas game arguments/complaining about long rules. Would thoroughly recommend :)
My family has played this game so many times, we had to expand! Perfect for parties and groups with different ages - probably my favorite game purchase of the last few years.
Got this as a Christmas present and myself and the sisters spent a couple of hours after Xmas dinner howling with laughter at the random things we came up with (I mean the drinks definitely helped, but STILL).
Really good fun. We didn’t really read all the instructions so if there are rules we don’t know what they are. Everyone was just laughing at the ridiculousness of our answers. Good enough and no fall out on Christmas Day for once!
The his game is HILARIOUS! I first got it to play with some of my child/teen clients (I’m a therapist) but had to get another one for home. It’s a hoot!
My siblings and I were raised by a lawyer who loves Monty Python. Needless to say, we all have something of an absurdist intellectual sense of humor, which could double as a byline for Ransom Notes. I have never experienced such a high ratio of cry-laughing in another game we have played together. 1000% recommend.
After trying some other new games which were fun but frankly frustrating this was a breath of fresh air!
Few rules, very flexible, and a lot of fun and laughter!
Ideal for all ages - in fact I can't wait to play it with the grandchildren. All the very best to you & here's to many more games from you too. Happy New Year!
Not really. While a majority of prompt cards are certainly suitable for all audiences, there are quite a few that are definitely not. BUT, if you do want to make it family friendly, pulling about 15-30% of the cards should make the game totally PG and playable for all!
What's included in this Expansion Pack?
You'll need the base Ransom Notes game to play. Each Expansion Pack includes:
20 high quality word magnets
4 metal submission cards
198 prompt cards
Why is it called Ransom Notes?
We love the look and feel of classic ransom notes and how the word magnets in the game replicate it. Once you create a submission, you have something that looks and sounds like a ransom note.
How do the word magnets work?
The word magnets in Ransom Notes work just like refrigerator magnets. They’ll stick right to the metal cards included in the game, but are easy to wipe off at the end of each round.
How do the submission cards work?
The submission cards are made of tin so they’re magnetic, but not too magnetic. Your words won’t get messed up when you make your face-down submission and you won’t spend much time wiping them off when the round is over.
Are the word magnet sheets hard to get apart at first?
During our first print run, we got some feedback that the "sheets" the word magnets came in took a while to separate. So, we've upgraded our materials so the magnets come apart faster and easier when you first get the game. Science!
How many players?
Ransom Notes is officially for 3-6 players, but this Expansion Pack adds four additional submission trays, so you can play with up to 10 people!
